Bill and Joanne presented their experience to date with social return on investment analysis to community practitioners, government representatives and academic researchers in Ottawa at the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation, Carleton University in June 2006.

The presentation Value For Your Dollar, The Social Enterprise Impact Assessment Project was presented at the annual Social Enterprise Alliance Convention held in Atlanta, Georgia. This presentation covers the Social Impact Assessment climate in Canada, and the need to find a reporting structure that covers both finanical and social outcomes.

This document provides the background for our early efforts around performance measurement. It includes our rationale for measurement, key challenges, and details on the Social Return on Investment methodology that we have used track the performance of our social enterprise portfolio.
