Past Projects

Save Small Business

In 2020 Social Capital Partners was part of a coalition that advocated for necessary policies to support small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of a few weeks, Save Small Business grew to 38,000 small business owners and became an important communication channel for the federal government to understand the dynamic needs of small businesses during public health shutdowns. Save Small Business raised the unique challenges of small businesses in media across Canada and contributed to the development of a critical rent relief program that saved thousands of businesses.

Business-in-a-Box

Independent small businesses are the backbone to our economy. Unfortunately, they’ve become harder to start and struggle to compete with large chains. We’ve been inspired by owner-owned cooperatives to help make small business thrive.

Workforce Development

Current government-funded employment and training support programs have primarily focused on serving job seekers. At SCP, we believe that greater impact can be achieved by balancing the equation – by placing equal emphasis on meeting the needs of employers and job seekers.

Inclusive Search Funds

Search funds allow entrepreneurs without capital to buy small businesses. However, only an exclusive club can access the financing to do so and are often forced to re-sell the business. We’ve put a twist on the search fund model to make it more inclusive and long-term.
